<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust color purity of displayed colors obtained from respective regions of a semitransmissive liquid crystal display device having reflection regions and transmission regions. <P>SOLUTION: In the semitransmissive liquid crystal display device having a color filter layer with the reflection regions and the transmission regions disposed thereon, a color layer 6 on the reflection region of a unit color filter with the reflection region 3 and the transmission region 4 is made to have a projecting and recessing shape and mean thickness of the color layer on the reflection region is made to be less than mean thickness of the color layer on the transmission region. The color filter layer is formed by forming a coating film of a coloring photosensitive resin composition on a transparent substrate, making light irradiate the entire transmission regions and a few parts of the reflection regions via a photomask and subsequently removing unexposed parts with an aqueous alkali solution. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
