<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp having a high luminance suitable for a thin and miniaturized liquid crystal display device. <P>SOLUTION: The lamp comprises a transparent tube, a reflection layer, a fluorescent substance and a plurality of electrodes. The reflection layer is formed on the inner or outer side of the transparent tube, and has an opening. The fluorescent substance is formed in the transparent tube. A plurality of electrodes are disposed in the transparent tube. When the fluorescent substance emits light by the discharge of the electrodes, the light is reflected by the reflection layer, guided into the opening, and emitted therefrom. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
