<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an accelerometer by which a variety of accelerations, such as angular acceleration, translational acceleration and the like can be detected easily, using a simple constitution. <P>SOLUTION: The accelerometer comprises a plumb bob (12) and a vibrator (1) which is installed so as to support the plumb bob at the position of its center of gravity. When the plumb bob is subjected to acceleration, stress corresponding to the acceleration is generated in the vibrator. Since the vibrator is installed so as to support the plumb bob in the position of its cener of gravity, a characteristic relation is established between the acceleration, such as angular acceleration, translational acceleration or the like and a magnitude or a polarity of a generated electric charge.
