PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip resistor having a fuse function of excellent pre- arching time characteristics to prevent a resistor layer explosion. SOLUTION: The chip resistor comprises; a resistor layer 12 formed on an insulative chip-like substrate 11; a pair of terminal parts (a base electrode layer 13, a nickel plate layer 14 and a solder plate layer 15) which are formed at the both ends of the chip-like substrate 11 and electrically connected to the resistor layer 12; a double-layered glass coating layer 16 formed on the resistor layer 12 (a lower glass coating layer 18 and an upper glass coating layer 19); and an outermost overcoat layer 17 formed on the glass coating layer 16. A paste essentially composed of silver palladium is used for the resistor layer 12, and an overcoat layer 17 is formed of silicon flame-retardant resin of 50μm-150μm thickness. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
