PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state imaging apparatus and a signal processing method capable of coping with a moving picture by utilizing a conventional solid-state imaging element. SOLUTION: A digital camera 10 stores image data 18a subjected to full pixel reading by a moving picture processing section 220 into a memory 222, a pixel mixing arithmetic section 224 adopts a longitudinally long rectangle, wherein the rectangle is short in a row direction and long in a column direction, for a basic arithmetic area of pixel data used for the arithmetic operation, performs mixing of pixels each on the basis of the pixel data of this area with respect to a first field, a luminance generating section 226a calculates luminance data from a result of pixel mixing for generating luminance, an R generating section 226b, a G generating section 226c, and a B generating section 226d calculate pixel data of the three primary colors or pixel data of a pseudo color difference from the result of pixel mixture for each color, supply pixels by shifting the basic arithmetic area of a second field by two rows with respect to the first field and each arithmetic function block performs arithmetic operations.
