<p>(A) Compounds of the formula (I) and salts (e.g. alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and ammonium salts, and salts with organic bases), esters and amides thereof. R is alkyl (opt. substd. by halogen or aryl) or is alkenyl; and R', R2 and R3 are each H, halogen, C1-8 alkyl or OR, or R' and R2 or R2 and R3 together with the adjacent carbon atoms represent a saturated or unsaturated carbocyclic or oxygen-containing heterocyclic ring. (B) Pharmaceutical compositions containing (I) and a carrier or diluent e.g. an inhalation preparation, an aqueous solution or suspension, (I) in a liquified propellant, or (I) with a solid diluent. (I) are used in the treatment of conditions in which antigen-antibody reactions are responsible for disease e.g. asthma, hay fever, urticaria and auto immune diseases. 5-(2-chloro-ethoxy)-chromone-2-carboxylic acid; 5-benzyloxy-chromone-2-carboxylic acid; and 5-(but-3-enyloxy)-chromone-2-carboxylic acid; and salts, esters and amides of these compounds.</p> |
