<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which a failure in a peripheral circuit caused by static electricity generated in rubbing treatment is prevented and a manufacturing method therefor. <P>SOLUTION: In patterning a light shielding material constituting a black matrix, a shielding film 20b for covering wiring 17b connected to the drain of a thin film transistor at a peripheral section is formed. Thus, the static electricity is stored on the shielding film 20 even if a roller comes into contact with the upper portion of a flattened film 21 at the peripheral section of a transparent insulation substrate 10 in the rubbing treatment and the static electricity is generated when the roller rubs the flattened film 21. This prevents the static electricity from being stored on the wiring 17b connected to the drain of the thin film transistor at the peripheral section. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
