PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a headphone device for a portable apparatus which has excellent distortion and noise characteristics by reducing the effect of contact resistance by a connector. SOLUTION: A headphone cable 3 connecting a plug 2 to be connected to the portable apparatus and a headphone part 5 is constituted of a light transmission means and a means for converting analog audio signals from the portable apparatus to pulsated analog electric signals and an electric/optic (EO) conversion means for converting the pulsated analog electric signals to optical signals are equipped inside the plug 2. The headphone part 5 is equipped with an optic/ electric (OE) conversion means for converting the optical signals from the light transmission means to electric signals, a speaker, a means for driving the speaker on the basis of the signals from the optic/electric (OE) conversion means and a battery for supplying the power to the headphone part 5.
