PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flywheel having sufficient durability and reducing load to a crank shaft. SOLUTION: The flywheel 1 for an internal combustion engine has a support 3 and a ring gear 4. The support 3 has a radial surface, and the ring gear 4 has a complementary radial surface. The ring gear 4 is formed so as to radially deform toward a rotary axial line 2 of the flywheel 1 in an at least deformable sector corresponding to compression and expansion zones of a piston of the internal combustion engine. The complementary radial surface is fixed to the radial surface in a fixing sector 14 positioned between a pair of adjacent deformable sectors. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
