PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a numerical controller and a numerical control method that can change programs quickly. SOLUTION: The numerical controller, which comprises a CPU10, ROM11, RAM12, RAM13, display device 14, keyboard 15, and motor 16, numerically controls the operation of the motor 16 according to a numerical control program stored in the RAM12. This numerical controller displays a numerical control program on the display device 14 during operation. When an execution block search key is pressed during editing, the numeric controller searches for an execution block, which is being executed at that time, and displays the execution block on the display device 14 with the cursor on it.
