PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel assembly capable of improving a thermal soundness of other fuel rod except a gadolinia fuel rod, without impairing the thermal soundness of the fuel rod. SOLUTION: The fuel assembly 101 comprises a plurality of the fuel rods 102 in which a uranium is sealed, and a plurality of gadolinia fuel rods 103, in which the uranium and gadolinia are sealed and which are regularly arranged. In the assembly 101, one or more of the rods 103 are contained in a higher content than a natural abundance of at least either Gd-155 and Gd-157 of the isotopes of gadolinium, and a fissionable material is contained in the assembly in firstly or secondly high enrichment of all the fuel rods.
