摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method, an image processing apparatus and a printer, by which a high quality image can be obtained at a high speed by optimizing image processing on the basis of the information amount of an input image signal and the result of comparison between reproduction limit information of output media and identification limit information at print observation. SOLUTION: A control section 3 instructs an input output signal comparison discrimination section 42 in an image processing section 4 to compare input output signals after acquisition of media reproduction limit information, allows an input output signal comparison section 421 to compare original image data amount information with media reproduction limit information, allows a comparison result discrimination section 422 to discriminate an image processing direction on the basis of the result of input output signal comparison and to output the image processing direction to an image processing arithmetic section 43. The image processing arithmetic section 43 performs arithmetic processing such as magnification, reduction, rotation, inversion of original image data, adjustment of lightness, adjustment of contrast, adjustment of hue, adjustment of saturation, adjustment of sharpness, and adjustment of the number of gradations of the original image data or the like and produces output image data according to the image processing direction received from the comparison result discrimination section 422.
