PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide simple structure of a refrigerator for controlling to avoid decay of produce stored in a vegetable room. SOLUTION: In this refrigerator, a gas sensor 20 for sensing the change of concentration of gas component generated from produce such as fruits and vegetables is arranged in a vegetable room 7, and a judgment means is installed for judging a freshness condition of the produce in the vegetable room 7 based on electric output of the gas sensor 20. A display means 22, which can be seen from the outside of the refrigerator, is connected with an output side of the judgment means, and the freshness condition of the produce in the vegetable room 7 is identified by the display means 22, so as to always maintain and manage the freshness of the produce.
