<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce torque required for rotating a rotary shaft 3a while ensuring required sealing performance, and improve running performance centered on acceleration and fuel consumption, of a motor vehicle incorporated with a water pump. <P>SOLUTION: A sealing device is constituted of; a seal ring 18 having three seal lips, i.e., a primary seal lip 23, and a first and a second secondary seal lips 24, 25; and a slinger 19. Among the three seal lips 23-25, two seal lips, i.e., the primary seal lip 23 and the second secondary seal lip 25 are brought into slidable contact with the slinger 19. The remaining first seal lip 24 constitutes a labyrinth seal between itself and the slinger 19. The purposes provided above are achieved with this structure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
