<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which has well high-frequency characteristics and in which an optical element or the like is stably mounted on a board. <P>SOLUTION: The optical module comprises an insulating layer 11, a passive element 10, the board 3 having a terminal electrode 2 formed on the surface of the layer 11, and active elements 1 connected to the electrodes 2 on the surface of the board 3 so that at least one of the electrodes 2 is connected to the element 10, at least one of the elements 1 is flip-chip mounted on the electrode 2 via a salient pole 7 on the main surface of the board 3, when a surface parallel to the main surface of the board 3 is set as a projection surface, the area of an orthographic projection of a dielectric layer 9 or the like is smaller than that of the area of an orthographic projection of the main surface of the board 3 and the layer 9 or the like is formed so that the orthogonal projection of the element 1 on the surface of the electrode 7 flip-chip mounted on the main surface of the board 3 is included in that of the layer 9 or the like. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
