PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication system that ensures high security.

SOLUTION: The authentication system, which authenticates original authentication information from different items of divided and converted authentication information that are respectively stored in a first authentication information storage device and at least one second authentication information storage device and that permit authentication only if all conditions derived according to a given conversion rule using at least a plurality of items of divided authentication information of the original authentication information are met, comprises an authenticating means for reconstructing the divided authentication information items according to an inverse conversion rule using all the divided and converted authentication information items from the first authentication information storage device and the second authentication information storage device, and authenticating the original authentication information from the reconstructed divided authentication information items.
