PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk identification device to identify a 12 cm disk having only an 8 cm data area at a central part in the same manner as a 12 cm disk having a normal data area, a disk insertion/ejection device having this disk identification device, and a disk recording/reproducing device. SOLUTION: A light receiving element 105b is disposed in a position to detect a 12 cm disk having a data area of only 8 cm at a central part when a push switch 106b detects the 12 cm disk having the data area of only 8 cm at the central part, and not to detect the 12 cm disk having a hollow hole of 8 cm in the central part when detecting the 12 cm disk on which the 8 am hollow hole is formed when the push switch 106b detects the 12 cm disk on which a hollow hole of 8 cm is formed.
