PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume-efficient battery cell having shape flexibility, being easy to contact conductively with a cell mounting device without volume loss over terminal portions. SOLUTION: A battery cell case 2 is formed by employing a pair of packaging materials 3, 4 each having at least one metal layer 3a, 4a, on one side thereof, and joining the periphery parts of the opposite sides thereof via heat- fusible resins 3b, 4b. The metal layers 3a, 4a are insulated from each other in the heat-fused part M of the packaging materials 3 and 4. Then the metal layer 4a of the packaging material 4 is electrically coupled to a positive electrode 6 so that the potential of the layer 4a is equal to that of the positive electrode, and the metal layer 3a of the packaging material 3 is electrically coupled to a negative electrode 7 so that the potential of the layer 3a is equal to that of the electrode 7.
