PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant compound imparting flame-retardance by the addition of a small amount of the compound and provide a flame- retardant composition resistant to the deterioration of molding fluidity, wet-heat resistance and an surface appearance. SOLUTION: The flame-retardant compound is composed of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt of a perfluorodisulfonic acid compound expressed by MSO<SB>3</SB>(CF<SB>2</SB>)<SB>n</SB>SO<SB>3</SB>M (M is Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Mg, Ca, Sr or Br; and (n) is an integer of 1-12) or [(O<SB>2</SB>SRFSO<SB>2</SB>)<SB>m</SB>M<SP>+</SP>(Rf is a straight or branched-chain perfluoroakyl which may be substituted with a 4-7C perfluorocycloaklyl group provided that the total carbon number of Rf is 2-12; M<SP>+</SP>is Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Mg, Ca, Sr or Ba; and (m) is the valence of M<SP>+</SP>).
