摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve use efficiency of transmitted light in a transmission type display without lowering the brightness of an image display in a reflection type display in a transflective electrooptic device, for example, a liquid crystal device. <P>SOLUTION: A substrate 10 for the liquid crystal device, i.e., a substrate for the electrooptic device, comprises a light-transmissive base member 11, a reflection layer 12 which is formed on the base member 11 and includes a reflection portion 12r and a transmission portion 12a with transmittance higher than that of the reflection portion, a light transmission layer 25 which is formed over the base member so as to coincide with the reflection layer 12 and has a hollow 25a at a position coinciding with the transmission portion 12a in plane, and an orientation film 17 which is formed over the base member 11 so as to coincide with the light transmission layer 25 and to define a recess 10a while entering the hollow 25a.
