PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extracting method for a continuous segment sequence by connecting partial segment sequences for fragments of a segment array in line-thinning processing while maintaining the original continuity of an original drawing. SOLUTION: After input image data are binarized (S1), the line-thinning processing is carried out (S2). End points of train of pixels are extracted from the line-thinned image data (S3) and connection parts connecting end points are extracted as to all the extracted end points to obtain a coordinate array group of one connection of pixels (S4) and segment approximation is performed for each point data array to generate a plurality of partial segment arrays (S5). Then the respective segment arrays are connected to obtain a whole- segment array (S6). When the respective partial segment arrays are connected, an end point of another partial segment array which is the end point closest to an end point of the head partial segment array is extracted and the end point of the head partial segment array is connected to the end point; and an end point of another partial segment array which is the end point closest to the end point after the connection is extracted and the end point after the connection is connected to the end point.
