PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to request document meta data by a document reading system using a standard E-mail system. SOLUTION: This document reading system sends an E-mail to the user related to the read document. A 'replay' field of the E-mail has an address of the document reading system specified thereon. The E-mail text includes a name of a meta data property retained by a repository system of the read document. Attached information of the E-mail comprises a screen resolution image of a first page of the read document and draws an attention of the user to a specified document requiring the meta data. The user compiles a reply E-mail text and writes a meta data value of each meta data property name. When the user sends the replay, the document reading system selects the meta data value from the E-mail text and stores the fed meta data value and the recorded document in the repository.
