PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a memory managing method capable of reducing overhead generated in utilizing contents of a physical memory area managed by kernel in a process. SOLUTION: In this image forming apparatus comprising a hardware resource, processes of an application for performing the processing unique to each user service, and a platform located between the hardware resource and the process of the application, and performing acquirement request of the hardware resource commonly needed by at least two processes of the application, the management, the execution control and the image forming process, a memory managing means is provided to assign a virtual memory area 123 of kernel and a virtual memory area 122 of the process to the same physical memory area 124 on the memory.
