PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a distributed control system that can improve not only maintainability of a field control station (FCS) but also safety of an entire plant and continuity of control, where the system has a plurality of FCSs communicating with an upper-layer apparatus through a control bus and data in a specific FCS are referred by other FCSs. SOLUTION: A distributed control system has a plurality of field control stations (FCSs) communicating with an upper-layer apparatus through a control bus and data in a specific FCS are referred by other FCSs. The specific FCS has a sending means for sending a broadcast to other FCSs indicating that the specific FCS is under maintenance when the specific FCS executes maintenance demanded by the upper-layer apparatus and the data in the FCS are not usable for a certain period.
