METHOD FOR PRODUCING FUEL GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technology for recovering and reusing a biomass in a useful form such as fuel gas, electric power and thermal energy by gasifying the biomass in high gasification efficiency. SOLUTION: The method for the production of the fuel gas comprises the heating/pressurizing treatment of the liquid biomass in the presence of an Ni- supporting porous carbon catalyst having the following properties. (a) The dimension of the catalyst is 0.3-2 mm; (b) the amount of Ni supported by the catalyst is 35-50 wt.%; (c) the BET specific surface area is 150-200 m2/g; (d) the pore diameter of the carbon carrier is 1-10 nm; and (e) the catalyst has a function to selectively take the organic component from the aqueous liquid into the pore.
