PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead storage battery in which reliability coming from a bag shape separator is maintained, improvement of vibration-resistant nature can be carried out at low cost, and improvement of an engine starting property can be carried out by suppressing voltage drop at the time of a large current discharge that flows at the time of engine start. SOLUTION: The battery has a negative plate 3 contained in the bag shape separator 2, and a positive plate 4 which counters with the negative plate. The two or more columns of ribs 5 in the vertical direction are formed on the outside of both sides of the bag shape separator 2 in the width direction. Fiberglass mats 6 that have a thickness equivalent to the height of the rib 5 or more are arranged only on both sides of the width direction of both sides of the bag shape separator 2.
