PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disc device, its tracking and focus control method to prevent failure in a transient response status. SOLUTION: The device is constituted with an ODC 120 to capture the timing of variation in signal amplitude of a tracking error signal or a focus error signal as processing start timing for request for data recording or data readout, and a holder timing signal output circuit 125 to output a mask signal to hold tracking control of focus control at timing before and after the signal amplitude changes.
