PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pointer-type instrument which is excellent in the visibility of a display portion, is novel, and has a feeling of depth. SOLUTION: The instrument is provided with an instrument body 5 which has a rotating shaft 4, a pointer 8 which has a pointer shaft 6 to be stuck to the tip side of the rotating shaft 4, a display board 9 arranged in the rear of this pointer 8, and light emitting diodes 10 arranged around the rotating shaft 4 in the rear of this display board 9. The pointer 8 has an indicating portion 7 and a cap 17 for covering the front side of the pointer shaft 6. The display board 9 has a plane portion 20 provided with the display portion being an indicating object of the indicating portion 7, an inclined portion 21 which is formed so as to be opposed to the circumferential brim of the cap 17 toward the side of the diodes 10 in such a way as to surround the rotating shaft 4 or pointer shaft 6 on the pointer shaft 6 side of this plane portion 20, and is illuminated with the light of the diodes 10, and a hole portion 22 formed on the end side of the inclined portion 21.
