PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wind mill equipped with a means for enabling an optimum control of a blade-path-area for wind by adapting to operation conditions such as wind velocity, the number of revolution and load, etc., of the wind mill, and stress conditions of wind-mill rotation members by freely changing an effective length of a blade, and maintaining the output of the wind-mill as far as possible within the limit of avoiding a fatigue failure, and further provide an operation control method thereof. SOLUTION: In the wind mill, the blade length is variably constituted, and there are equipped with a detector for detecting operation conditions of the wind mill, a blade-length controller and a blade-length changing device. The blade-length controller calculates a blade-path area and a controlled variable adapting to operation conditions on the basis of results of comparison between detected signals of wind-mill operation conditions input from the operation- condition-detector and an allowance for preset operation conditions. The blade- length changing device changes the blade length on the basis of a calculated value of the blade-length input from the blade-length controller. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
