The method involves obtaining a low-dose preshot image and overlaying a preshot image with a predefined configuration having a division. The division is selected to identify a region of interest for one subsequent diagnostic image. An exposure characteristic is determined to obtain a diagnostic image based on the identified region of interest. An Independent claim is also included for a user interface for a digital x-ray system.
