<p>Bacteria belonging to the genus Rhodococcus and being capable of utilizing benzene. These bacteria are also tolerant to benzene. Examples of these bacteria include Rhodococcus sp. B-4 strain (deposition no. FERM BP-8281), Rhodococcus opacus B-9 strain (deposition no. FERM BP-8282) and Rhodococcus opacus B-10 strain (deposition no. FERM BP-8283) each having the base sequence according to SEQ ID NO:1 or being represented by the restriction enzyme cleavage map shown in Fig. 3. A plasmid having the base sequence according to SEQ ID NO:2 or being represented by the restriction enzyme cleavage map shown in Fig. 4.</p> |
