The connecting device has a tensioner (50), the shaft of which fits in an aperture in the form of a longitudinal groove (20) in one of the workpieces (10) so that the threaded region projects beyond the endface of the workpiece, and has a head (16, 60) at a spacing from it, able to move in an undercut longitudinal groove in the other workpiece.
