An elastic surface wave apparatus includes a substrate (10), a pair of reflection electrodes (14, 18) formed on the substrate, and a plurality of drive electrodes (12) formed so as to be sandwiched by the pair of reflection electrodes. Cycle of each of the reflection electrodes changes according to a predetermined change pattern. Thus, it is possible to simultaneously improve suppression of spurious wave and squareness characteristics (precipitous shoulder portion of a passing zone).
