<p>The invention relates to a supporting structure for vehicles, comprising a longitudinal member (1) that is made of at least two interconnected hollow profiles (10, 11), one of which extends in the direction of the bumper (5). Said single hollow profile extension (10c) deforms in a precise manner in case of a crash at a low collision speed, which makes it possible to keep repair costs low. The stiffer supporting structure of the double hollow profile protects the passengers of the vehicle in case of a higher collision speed. The inventive supporting structure also reduces the number of required parts and the total weight because the impact absorber which is generally arranged between the longitudinal member and the bumper is not needed.</p> |
