Method for compressing and hardening of fiberboard or chipboard, using steam and pre-heated steel bands

A rectangular sheet (1) of loosely connected fibers or chips is inserted into a gap formed by steel bands (4). The sheet (1) is heated and simultaneously moistened by steam produced in a steam generator (8) located at the insertion area. Steel pressing bands (4), and rods (5) heat the sheet (1) in order to achieve the temperature required for the pressing and hardening process. In the last stage of the process the sheet (1) is guided through a pressure relief area (11) where the steam and excess heat are released.
