A handheld ultrasound system (100) has a graphical user interface to select display modes. An anatomically correct image that represents flow as motion of a speckled pattern, is displayed in one of the display modes. An ultrasound imaging device is operated in operation modes such as image mode selection mode, image acquisition mode, system configuration mode, measure/annotate mode and archiving mode. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) Ultrasound system; and (2) Ultrasound imaging method.
