Method for applying decorative effects onto wooden items using three dimensional relief for a permanent effect

A method for applying decorative effects onto wooden items, e.g. musical boxes, has the patterns enhanced by a three dimensional relief process. This provides a permanent pattern which is not damaged by cleaning or handling. The feature is especially used on convex sides of the item. The depth and colouring of the relief decoration is selected as required.
