The invention relates to magnesium-based alloys, in particular to the composition of magnesium alloys and methods for the production thereof, said alloys being widely used for the automobile industry. The aim of said invention is to produce an alloy having low creep-strength factor which improves the mechanical properties thereof, in particular the heat resistance of the alloy. The invention makes it possible to produce the alloy provided with mechanical properties suitable for pressure-die casting. The inventive magnesium-based alloy contains aluminium, zinc, manganese and calcium. The novelty of the alloy lies in that the ingredients thereof are contained at the following element ratio in mass %: 2.0-3.0 of aluminium 7.0-11.0 of zinc 0.51-1.0 of manganese 0.2-1.7 of calcium, magnesium being the rest.
