A sterilizer comprising a chamber 4 for containing an article being sterilized by high-temperature, high-pressure vapor, and mechanisms 30, 31 for cooling the article under a state isolated thermally from the inside of the chamber, wherein the article can be cooled rapidly without troubling a worker and cooling the inside of the chamber, and the load of sterilization work is reduced while shortening the cycle time.
