GENE ENCODING NOVEL ENZYME CATALYZING GLYCOSYL TRANSFER REACTION AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING THE ENZYME

It is intended to provide a gene encoding a novel enzyme which catalyzes a glycosyl transfer reaction; a recombinant DNA containing this enzyme gene; a transformant having the recombinant DNA introduced thereinto; a recombinant enzyme with the use of the same and a process for producing the enzyme; and a process for producing a glycoside with the use of the enzyme. Namely, a gene encoding (a) a protein comprising the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2 or (b) a protein comprising an amino acid sequence derived from the amino acid sequence (a) by deletion, substitution or addition of one or several amino acids and having a glycosyl transfer activity; a recombinant DNA characterized by containing the above gene; a transformant having the above gene transferred thereinto with the use of the recombinant DNA; a recombinant enzyme having a glycosyl transfer activity which is produced by the above transformant; a process for producing a recombinant enzyme having a glycosyl transfer activity characterized by comprising culturing the above transformant in a medium and collecting the recombinant enzyme having a glycosyl transfer activity from the culture medium; and a process for producing a glycoside characterized by using the above transformant or the above recombinant enzyme.
