The gauge comprises a square edged aluminium guide tube (1) with at least two console holders (2) of steel with four grooves so that two grooves hold a round steel guide . A guide carriage has four runners with built-in guide tube and an angular stop is mounted on the carriage with measuring scale and displaceable stop strip. All parts are made where necessary from aluminium or steel. Magnets (5c) hold the rods prior to welding.
