The device (1) for the securing of a load in the load holding space of a private motor vehicle has an arm of a first type (2) and an arm of a second type (3) to divide the load holding space. Each arm of the first type by the arm of the second type is extendable in the longitudinal direction by various lengths. The arm of the first type has a C or U-shaped cross section and in tubular form. A spring is provided which tends to push the second type arm out of the first type arm. An Independent claim is included for a use for the device which is to secure a load in the load holding space of a vehicle.
