The method involves displaying representational objects representing the installed components and operating assemblies, and superimposing on the displayed representational objects a matrix of m rows and n columns defining respective matrix fields at intersections of the rows and columns. Each representational object completely or partially occupies one or more of the matrix fields. The method further involves selecting one or more selected ones of the installed components and operating assemblies by selecting one or more of the matrix fields that are completely or partially occupied by one or more of the representational objects respectively representing the one or more selected ones of the installed components and operating assemblies.
