Method of machining straight recesses in the surfaces of workpieces

The method involves setting a tool axis at a setting angle relative to a z axis in the coordinate system of a milling tool (5). The coordinate systems of both the workpiece (4) and the tool is rotated relative to one another until a projection of the tool axis onto the X-Y plane of the coordinate system of the workpiece is parallel to the main axis of the coordinate system of the tool. The surface recess is then machined, after which the workpiece and the milling tool are rotated towards the c axis to change from the machined recess to another recess. That recess is subsequently machined. The milling tool machine one side of the workpiece for a positive skew angle and opposite side in mirror image for a negative skew angle. An Independent claim is also included for a method of machining with a machine tool recesses on a workpiece.
