PURPOSE: A method for assigning an IP(Internet Protocol) in a wireless IP network is provided to assign a fixed IP to a board by transmitting an IP request message with respect to a DHCP(Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server, using a slot ID currently located in the IP request message, as a DHCP client ID when attaching each board, composing a domain name by the slot ID after acquiring the IP, and transmitting an updating message to a DNS(Domain Name System) server. CONSTITUTION: IPs mapped to all slot IDs of each slot are fixedly set up in a DHCP server(ST11). All fixed IPs corresponding to the slot IDs are registered in a table of the DHCP server(ST12). If registration is completed, a fixed IP and a domain name are designated in each slot through the fixed IPs registered in the DHCP server irrespective of replacing a board(ST13). If a new board is added or replaced(ST14), a slot ID of a slot in which the added board is currently located is retrieved(ST15). The retrieved slot ID is transmitted to the DHCP server(ST16). The DHCP server assigns a corresponding IP to the board on the basis of the slot ID through an address assignment process(ST17). If the IP assignment is successfully performed, the DHCP server checks whether the board is registered in a DNS server(ST18). If the board is not registered in the DNS server, the DHCP server transmits an updating message to the DNS server and updates the DNS server(ST19).
