Ejector mechanism on the punch-side of a single or multi stage press

A blocking mechanism fixed to the press frame blocks an ejector pin (64) when the press carriage (12) returns from a pressing position. The blocking mechanism has a positionally adjustable blocking piece, which may be retracted into blocking engagement with the ejector pin while the pin contacts a stop (68). The activation of the blocking mechanism and resetting unit are program controlled. The ejector pin protrudes from a press ram (56) when assuming an extended position wherein end of the pin remote from the stationary press die (80) is distanced from the stop.
