Cameras, roll-film.-In a camera having a handoperated winder for simultaneously advancing the film and setting a focal plane shutter, means is provided for automatically freeing the film winder, when it has been wound to a fresh exposure position, and allowing the shutter spindle to proceed independently until fully set for either instantaneous or time exposure. The winding-key 31 turns the train of wheels 12, 17, 15 30; 12 being a toothed wheel fixed to the spindle 11 for the take-up spool, 17 an intermediate toothed wheel mounted on the lever 16, and 15 a toothed wheel fixed to the shutter spindle about which the lever 16 pivots. The wheel 17 is normally held in engagement with the wheel 12 by the spring 18, but is moved out of engagement when the fresh exposure position is reached by the action of the stud 40 fixed to the wheel 30 on the curved downward extension of the lever 16. The wheel 30 carries two studs 32 and 33 at different radial distances from its centre, the stud 32 acting as a stop at the end of an exposure by coming into contact with the inner edge 34 of a lever 35 the upper end 36 of which is pressed outwards by a spring 37. For an instantaneous exposure, the key 31 is turned until the stud 32 has nearly reached the wheel 15. On operating the lever 22, either by the Bowden wire release 26 or by the projection 24, a stud 28 pushes the detent 29 clear of the wheel 30, and a nose 21 engages a nose 20 on the lever 16, holding the wheel 17 out of mesh with the wheel 12, whilst the wheels 15, 17 and 30 rotate in the reverse direction until the exposure terminates with the contact of the stud 32 with the part 34. For a time exposure, the winding is continued until the stud 32 engages the part 36 and forces the lever 35 inwards, so that the part 34 lies in the path of the stud 33. On operating the lever 22, a further nose 39 now moves inside an extension 38 on the lever 35, and retains the latter in the inner position, the wheels 15, 17 and 30 rotating until the stud 33 strikes the part 34. When the shutter release is freed, the detent 29 re-engages the wheel 30, and the lever 35 moves back to the normal position. On again operating the shutter release, the exposure is completed. The film winder spindle 11 may be turned independently by the hand wheel 13, the teeth of the wheel 12 forcing back the intermediate wheel 17. |
