PURPOSE: A visual pin map editor is provided to visually display an external form of a programmable logic device selected by a user, and to enable the user to allocate an IO mode and a variable to each pin of the programmable logic device. CONSTITUTION: The editor comprises a variable selection function, a visual display function, and a selected data display function. The variable selection function sequentially displays names of variables which have been already input by the user, and enables a user to allocate a variable and an IO mode to each pin. The visual display function displays an external form of a programmable logic device and programmable pins. If the user selects the variable and the IO mode, and clicks one pin on a pin map window, the variable and the IO mode are allocated to the clicked pin. The selected data display function displays allocated pin data for each pin.
