PURPOSE: A formed type flat panel for a CRT(Cathode Ray Tube) is provided to be capable of satisfying the brightness condition of tube maker and simultaneously satisfying the explosion-proof characteristic of UL standard. CONSTITUTION: A formed type flat panel for a CRT comprises a rectangular type face plate(12) including an effective surface region, an outer surface having a radius of curvature of 'R', and a curved inner surface, a skirt portion(14) prolonged from the edge portion of the face plate to the rearward, and a corner portion(16) for connecting the face plate with the skirt portion. When the diameter 'D' of the effective surface region of the face plate is in the range of 700 mm, or higher, or 550-665 mm and the radius 'R' of curvature is in the range of 10000 mm, or higher, the peripheral thickness 'T1' of the face plate is satisfied with the first relational expression of '0.03D- 5<= T1<= 0.039D+ 15/(D0.5- 1.5)+ 2.54, the center thickness 'T2' of the face plate is satisfied with the second relational expression of '0.0185D- 6.5<= T2<= 0.0204D, and the third relational expression of '1.3<= T1/T2<= 2.1' is satisfied.
