The device accommodates a piece of food pushed from above over a shaft (3) so that it rests on a lowre support plate (1). A slicing tool (4) is pushed from above over the shaft, so that its blade (6) rests on the food piece. By rotation of the slicing tool, slices can be removed from the food piece. With the shaft, a tab plate (9) with tabs (10) is connected, which prevent the food piece from turning.
